The government’s reaction followed claims that "Shame" oh sorry Shem had been sacked on the orders of the Minister of Interior, who supervises the NSCDC.
Contrary to the rumoured sack or suspension of the officer, who was becoming popular by the day via social media as a result of the controversial but hilarious interview with Channels, the government had not taken any step to sanction him.
In fact, one account had it that the wife of the officer had even approached the television station to complain about the fate of his husband occasioned by the controversial interview.
“It is not true that the ministry of Interior has sacked or suspended the said officer.
“The man in question had taken permission to go and bury his father and there is no truth whatsoever in the wild allegation that the ministry of interior had sacked the officer,” a source close to the ministry said.
Shem, who resurfaced earlier in the week after burying his father, was quoted as saying, ”I am still the State Commandant of NSCDC and I am determined to work hard to expose the vandals across the State.”
He denied claims that his wife visited Channels and complained about his fate, saying that his spouse was with him throughout the burial.
When contacted, the Special Assistant to the Minister of Interior, George Udoh, confirmed that Shem had not been suspended on sacked as claimed in the social media.
