NBA: Hakeem Olajuwon Says Dwight Howard Wanted Out Of Orlando In 2011

We all know Dwight Howard was fronting for real when he was still in Orlando, when he would be asked about how he felt staying there. He had to play the politically correct role so he wouldn’t come off as a bad guy, but in the end he still somewhat did. He and then coach Stan Van Gundy, had an up and down relationship and now Hakeem Olajuwon has shed more light on the issue.

Hakeem the dream spent last summer with Dwight Howard, helping him work on his post game. Exactly how a typical Nigerian would do(help out) It was then Olajuwon said, that Howard told him he could no longer deal with Stan Van Gundy being his coach. Now in all fairness, Van Gundy was not a bad coach by any means, but sometimes when you have a superstar playing for you it is not always easy. Olajuwon has worked with many NBA players lately, including Lebron James, Amare Stoudamire and Howard.

Olajuwon is the king of making moves in the post and these players wanted to learn from him. Hakeem was quoted as saying he believes 100% that Dwight will re-sign with the Lakers at the end of this season because he told him that is where he wanted to be. Even though things have not gone how they expected, Hakeem still thinks Dwight will be with the Lakers for years to come. He said Howard was very frustrated playing in Orlando, and Los Angeles was a destination he really wanted to go to, even though most reports had Brooklyn as the favorite. He was quoted as saying “He feels like it’s a great chance for him to win a championship, and he wants to be another great center for the Lakers of the future. He thought it was the best fit for him personally”. I am not sure if I believe it fully, but Hakeem does not strike me as someone who would lie for no reason. If all this is true,

I just wish Howard would have kept it more real during his last season in Orlando. Thumbs up Hakeem...we are 9ja'ns. We don't lie, we are resilient, we are patient. We are da future!!!
